Application Process
The Community Pediatric Residency Program at Morehouse School of Medicine s an exciting place for pediatric residency. We participate in ERAS
(Electronic Residency Application Service). For more information on how to apply, please contact the
Dean's office at your medical school or contact the ERAS home office.
Personal interviews will be granted, after careful review of all
submitted materials, to qualified applicants most closely matching the institution's and department's stated
missions. This will provide you the opportunity to visit our facilities and meet with our residents and
faculty members.
Candidates are matched via the National Residents Matching Program (NRMP). Candidates must complete
their application files by the ERAS deadline in order to be considered for an interview.

How To Apply
We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and all applications to our program will be taken exclusively through that service. A complete application will include the following:
- Complete ERAS common application form (CAF)
- 3 letters of recommendation (specific letter from department chairman or residency program director not required)
- Dean's letter for US Medical School Graduates
- ECFMG Certificaton for International Medical School Graduates
- Medical School Transcript
- USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 scores
- Photograph (optional)
We review each and every application that we receive through ERAS. We do not review paper applications sent through the mail nor do we review appllications that have been emailed to us. We will begin interviewing selected applicants on or about November 1, 2008 and continuing through January 29, 2009 for our six (6) available 2009 Intern residency slots.
If you are selected to interview with our program we will contact you via email. Please keep in mind that we receive hundreds of applications each year, so unfortunately we cannont interview everyone. If however, you are not selected to interview with our program, you will receive an email letter of acknowledgement that your application has been reviewed but not accepted.
Applications must be received through ERAS by January 1, 2009.
Interview Day
Our typical interview day begins at 7:15 AM. Candidates meet with the Program Director, attend an informational session with program leaders and the Chief Residents, attend morning report or Grand Rounds, interview with three members of the selection committee, and tour the facilities. The interview day normally concludes around 3:30:00 PM.
Candidates are encouraged to join the residents for a social hour the evening prior to the interview day. This informal gathering at a local restaurant provides candidates an opportunity to learn about the program and community from current residents and their significant others.
Second visits to our residency program can be arranged on an individual basis through the Chief Resident after the official interview day has occurred but second visits are not required in order to be considered for the Pediatrics Residency position.
